Purpose

The environmental purpose is to reduce soil erosion, reduce hazards to groundwater, reduce manure runoff and management nutrient levels on cropland.

Landowner Benefits

The landowner can benefit from up to 70% cost-share reimbursement for best management practices installation. Technical assistance with installation is also provided.

Description

The program is administered by the County Soil and Water Conservation Department. A limited amount of funding is available annually. Landowners must apply with the Department. The program is also utilized by the Department to help enforce environmental ordinances.

Practices

Well decommissioning, manure storage closure, nutrient management, barnyard runoff control, rotational grazing, and stream bank protection.

Costs to Landowner

Landowners will pay for at minimum 30% of the cost of installing best management practices.

Eligibility

The project must be a high priority area in the County.

Contract

The practice must be maintained for 10 years.
