Purpose |
The environmental purpose is to create healthy forests as well as protect and enhance our forestlands, prairies, and waters. |
Landowner Benefits |
The landowner receives cost-sharing on approved practices including the development of a Management Plan. |
Description |
This program is designed to assist private landowners with protecting and enhancing their forests, prairies, and water resources. It encourages landowners to manage their lands ina manner that benefits the forest resources. |
Practices |
Management Plan Development, tree planting, timber stand improvement, wetland restoration, habitat enhancement |
Costs to Landowner |
Landowners must pay at least 50% of the cost to implement an approved practice. |
Eligibility |
Private landowners are eligible if they own at least 10 acres of contiguous (touching) acres of forestland but no more than 500 acres. A forest stewardship plan must be in place before applying. |
Contract |
Practices shall be maintained for 10 years. |
Other Notes |
Landowners granted WFLGP funding can only be cost shared for noncommercial practices. |
